Canada’s 150th
On July 1,
2017 I just wanted to say ‘hello’ again, and to thank those that have read my
posts in the past – I do quite appreciate it.
As many of you may know I decided to take a break from my blog for a
little while. I’ll let you know a little
more about that in my next post. In the
meantime, as you can tell by my title I’m going to talk about how my Canada’s
150th went.
I can hardly
believe that Canada’s 150th birthday just went by. I remember a few years ago thinking ‘wow,
Canada’s going to be 150, that’s a big birthday,’ so I decided that for this
Canada Day I would go and see some really good fireworks.
It had been
raining so much during the month of June that I was worried that the fireworks
would be rained out on July 1st. Luckily, the rain only happened
during the afternoon. July 1st
started off nicely, with the sun coming up in the morning. My hubby and I went with his mother to my
sister-in-law’s place for lunch. It was
my sister-in-law’s husband’s birthday as well.
I think that’s pretty cool to be born on Canada Day – it can’t get any
more Canadian than that eh? ;)
Of course,
what many Canadians do during the summer is have BBQ – because everything
tastes better on the BBQ. Honestly, if
ice cream could be cooked on the BBQ and not melt, I’d totally BBQ my ice
cream. Everyone at the party was wearing
red or white. It was great to see other
Canadians being so proud of their country.
I decided to
have Canada Dry, as it’s my favourite ginger ale brand, and to my surprise it
actually said Canada Day on it! I was so
excited that I decided to take a picture.
I was telling my hubby and my sister-in-law’s family about how it said
Canada Day on both sides of the can, when they told me it only had Canada Day
on one side. I quickly had to run to my
purse so I could get my camera to see if I took a picture of the Canada Day
side. To my relief I had. Yes, if you couldn’t
tell they were laughing, but then again so was I.
I am so bad
for that sometimes, misreading a word for something else. After that I actually started to relax more
as I found I wasn’t as nervous being around people I don’t know as well. There was of course cake and it was a
strawberry shortcake flavour. It was so
good I ended up eating two pieces of cake.
We even played a guessing game for guessing what a future little one’s birthweight
would be along with birthdate and time.
It was nice to feel included with friend’s and family during a
celebration.
After that
we came back to my hubby’s mother’s place and relaxed. Since it wasn’t the same city we lived in and
the crowds were expected to be huge, we decided to go by transit to see the
fireworks. At one point, we were on a
bus and it was barley moving. The fireworks
were at 10pm and I was becoming so anxious as it was 9:52pm and we were still
on the bus. Finally, the bus driver let
us off a minute after that and my hubby and I quickly ran to where the
fireworks were supposed to be.
It turned
out that the fireworks started 15 minutes later, but at least we made it. They were stunning, and I loved that I had my
husband beside me the whole time to enjoy that experience with me. I really loved that Canada’s 150th
was going out with a bang. It showed
how proud Canadians are.
I am so
blessed that God chose to have me born in this wonderful country, and that my
family and my husband is from here too.
I think when we appreciate the things God gives us, then it makes it
easier to live our lives here.

Colossians
4:2 Continue
steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving.
Here’s
a song about feeling so lonely, and yet you continue to hide as you feel so
guilty for what you have done. But
there’s no distance too far that you can’t be reached. And there’s no place that’s so dark that you
can’t be found. That is doesn’t matter
what you’ve done, that you are never too far gone. And you will never out run Our Lord’s love.
