Music
On April 21,
2017 I was thinking that it’s amazing how music can have so many different
effects on people. A song can bring you
up and get you dancing. Another song can
bring you down when it sounds so sad. And
yet other songs can inspire you to want to do better. I was trying to think about what I wanted to
write for my next post when three songs I had been listening to recently touched
me.
I could tell
that God was speaking to me through those songs as it made me want to change
for the better. I find lately that I
have become stagnate when it comes to working on myself. I’m not overly down and I’m not overly happy,
I’m just okay. I think most people often
want to stay in a place of being content, which I was, but after I heard those
songs it made me want to think differently.
I’m not
expecting that I’m going to be excited or happy 24/7 from now on, but I think
every so often it’s important to re-evaluate our lives to see how we can
improve. I’m guessing you probably want
to know what the three songs I’m talking about are. They were from the CD “Wow Hits 2012” disc
1. The interesting thing is that the
three songs were all back to back.
The first
song I listened to was “Beautiful” by Mercy Me. There were different parts of the song that I
could relate to; it reminded me that I was made for more than where I am right
now. Part of me feels like my life right
now isn’t that fulfilling with not having a job, but I felt God was telling me
that this isn’t what I’m meant to do. I
felt like He was telling me my purpose in life is still to come, and I just
need to wait patiently.
The second
song I listened to was “Your Love” by Brandon Heath. It reminded me of when I was in a dark place
and how God was a light in the darkness.
The song reminded me that His love is one thing that doesn’t change,
even when everything in your life is going crazy. One thing that is true, is that God will
always love you no matter what happens in your life.
The third
song I listened to was “Stronger” by Mandisa.
It’s a good song for those that are currently struggling in life. We often can’t understand why things happen
as they do, but frequently like it says in this song, as you go through a
difficult situation it will make you stronger. When you are going through a hard time, it is
important to rely on God as He will get you through those trying situations.
When you are
listening to music, be careful to find songs that lift you up, instead of
bringing you down. God could be speaking
to you through them and you may not even realize it until you really listen to
the words. I’ve listening to these songs
for years, but I didn’t really hear them until I was ready to hear those
encouraging words.
