Number Birthday

On November 11, 2016 I started off my birthday differently this year.  A close friend of mine decided on her birthday to run her age in Kilometres and later in the year she also decided to run a friend’s birthday’s age in distance.  She suggested I run or walk my birthday age on my birthday.  I knew that walking or running my full age would be too much for me, so I decided to do a smaller version of my running age.

I turned 31 years old recently and decided with my husband to run 3.1 KM.  I regularly run 5KM, so I knew that I could run that distance pretty easily.  The really cool thing is that my friend that lives on the other side of the country said that she would run the same distance as I would in remembrance of me.  It turned out to be a cold and windy day here when I went for the run on my birthday.  I didn’t mind the weather as I had my hubby running beside me and I was excited to be running my age divided by ten.

I decided to text my friend what time I started my run as she doesn’t live in the same time zone as me.  When she found out that I had run at 8:30am she decided when it came time to go for her run she would do it also at that time.  That got me excited that she would be doing that as it almost made it seem like we were running at the same time.

After I got home I had a shower when at some point I started to feel down.  By the time I got out of the shower and I started to put on my foundation my husband noticed I was tearing up.  He then realized as I looked at the time on my watch what was wrong.  My dad had always called me and sang “Happy Birthday” at the exact time I was born and I realized that he wasn’t going to call me this time as he wasn’t here anymore.  My sweet hubby then decided to say happy birthday to me when that time happened.  It did help, but there was still a part of me that was a little sad.

Later my best friend called me on the phone and no surprise her little children wanted to know who she was talking to.  She told them it was Patricia as they had met me before and she mentioned to them that it was my birthday.  When they heard that both of them got excited and decided to sing “Happy Birthday” to me on the phone.  It meant a lot to me that they did that as I knew my dad wouldn’t be able to.  I think God was really looking out for me that day even in the little things like having children sing happy birthday to me.  He knew I needed that to comfort my heart a little more.

The rest of my birthday was incredible; my husband made me a very special birthday lunch with chocolate and Reece chip pancakes with maple syrup, whip cream and berries on it.  He also made me turkey bacon and we had orange juice with our meal.  It was super tasty! I felt so spoiled that he would do that for me and he even cleaned all the dishes for me.

The thing that was even more amazing was that when I opened my presents from my hubby and my mother-in-law I found out that I got my two favourite Disney movies – Aladdin and Beauty and the Beast.  I excitedly screamed for joy and had happy tears as I had wanted these movies since I met my husband as he hadn’t seen either of them.  We ended up watching one of them after we had our supper that evening.

At the end of my birthday I felt so touched and loved by so many who made this birthday so special to me.  I truly felt God was blessing me that day, and He helped me to see that it indeed was a celebration for me being born into this world.  I hope my readers know that you are worth being born into this world too!

2 Corinthians 9:15      Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!

Here’s a good song about every step being really difficult and our Lord is carrying us and He is our strength in our weakness, and the refuge that we seek, and He is everything that we need.  Even in moments when it feels like we can’t breathe, that He is carrying us through it.
