Meeting my future husband part 2

Image
On May 30, 2016 I decided to finish writing about my future husband, which people have been waiting for… of how I first met Nathan in person!   I can understand from other people's perspective that since I met Nathan online I should have been a lot more cautious when it comes to meeting him in person.   I even had a friend of mine suggest I bring mace, hehe.   To be honest I wasn’t worried as I sensed he was a trustworthy guy.   I only had the normal nervousness of actually meeting him for the first time.   Nathan never knew what I looked like besides the description of what my profile said about me. I was really touched that he would want to meet me not because of what I looked like but from the type of person I was.   It made me realize Nathan was really special as not all guys would want to go out with a girl solely on their personality.   I decided to do this cute thing. I had a pass which I could access the whole transit, which meant I ...

Meeting my future husband part 1

On May 23, 2016 at this point I’m sure that there are some of you who have been reading my blog that want to know more about my hubby who I’ve mentioned in previous posts.   I’ve decided to let you hear about how I first met him. Back in October 2013 I hadn't dated in 5 years and 8 months and the last guy I had dated previously wasn't the greatest.   I told God awhile ago that when I felt ready - which I had a few months before then - the next guy I date I want to be ‘the one.’ I didn't want to date a bunch of guys and not have it work out. It knew it wouldn't be good for me. So I decided to look into online dating in August 2013 and the first site I found was Christian Mingle, but when I found out that it would cost money I decided not to go with it. I tried a free one, but I didn't find that many nice guys. My best friend met her husband online and she was the one who suggested online dating to me.   I went and saw my best friend in the first week of October...

Blizzard

On May 16, 2016 my husband and I have been getting back into running again with the weather getting warmer.   We’ve been going every other day this past week.   I found that some of the runs have been quite hard, while others have been easier.   We noticed after I had cake and ice cream the night before one of my good runs that sugar may have been a factor for me.   We decided to do an experiment by having a Dairy Queen ice cream Blizzard the evening before our morning run.   We wanted to see if the sugary dessert would help me have more energy for my run.   A run I had earlier in the week I didn’t have much sugar the day before and I was exhausted by the end of the run in the morning. We had a nice carby meal of perogies for dinner and then we looked online with Dairy Queen’s Blizzard menu.   There was a bunch of different flavours you could choose from.   The nice thing about the site was that it also gave nutritional info about what ...

Mom

Image
On May 9, 2016 I was thinking about that every year in May we celebrate our moms and what amazing women they are.   I know that not everyone has had the greatest mom growing up, or they were not in their life, but often there are woman figures in our lives that can replace that role of a mother. I love my mom very much as she has always been so kind, sweet, caring and loving to us kids.   I remember when I was little my oldest brother would tease me that there were crocodiles in the basement.   I would be stepping down the stairs when he would close the door on me and I would scream as I ran up the stairs.   My mom would be there to calm me down and let me know that there are no crocodiles in the basement.   She would turn the lights on and walk down the stairs with me and show me that it was a normal basement.   I appreciated that my mom could reassure me about what was the truth and what was a little lie my brother was making up to tease me. ...

Cheering on a Friend

Image
On Sunday May 1, 2016 my husband and I decided to get up a little earlier than we normally do to cheer on a friend.   I can tell you the weather was not ideal.   It wasn’t that warm, it was windy and raining all morning long.   All I could think about was my friend and the race she was going to run that day. The race was in our city so we decided to walk down near the lake where it was going on and wait for our friend to run by us so we could cheer her on.   We had hoped to get to our waiting spot around 10am, but we ended up getting there at 9:35am while it continued to rain. Normally someone might complain about standing in the rain for hours, but I didn’t because I knew my friend was running in it.   My friend decided to run her first Marathon race this day and I felt how could I not come and support her.   I was so excited to see her run by at the 30km mark where my husband and I were waiting. We saw a bunch of men run by first and later th...
